The ViewBath Review
This fun cafe is right on Pultney Bridge and Squeeze Juice Cafe aims to attract the health conscious as well as passing tourists. The VenueJust like its drinks, this cafe is a burst of energy and life. Behind the bar counter there are lime green and white stripes as well as containers that make a great display of the fruit and vegetables used in the juices. One wall is hot pink with white doodles and vivid orange accents here and there. Even the lampshades are bright hues. Black and white tables surrounded by stools make up the furniture and the cafe looks modern, clean and bursting with life.
The PeopleSqueeze Juice Cafe not only provides healthy food and drinks, but is sticks to good principles. All the cups are 100 per cent biodegradable and the sugar is fair-trade. Unsurprisingly, the young and health conscious stop in regularly for a drink or a quick bite to eat, and its popular with the office crowd.
There's not much space to sit so most visits are short, and its not exactly a tranquil retreat because the juicers make a racket. A fairly steady crowd drift in and out including clued-up tourists, mature women eager to find the fruit juice elixir of young skin and men in their forties who've taken to riding around the town on bikes. Squeeze Juice Cafe even offers detox plans that can last up to five days. Those who want to lose weight and increase energy levels become regular, in more ways than one.
The FoodHealth is the name of the game at Squeeze Juice Cafe and they sell raw chocolate pie, healthy salads like organic Tuscan beans (£2.50), sandwiches including one with a tasty Thai chicken filling (from £2.25), hot toasties and - this is the real surprise - an intriguing brie and grape cold pasta. The food is fresh and very healthy in comparison with the supermarket alternatives. They also have a breakfast menu (£1.20 to £1.75) offering crunchy muesli, freshly baked muffins, creamy organic porridge and pro-biotic yogurt. It couldn't get any healthier.
The DrinkYou can choose a solo juice or pick from the Energy and Revive, Well Being, Cleansers (all £2.50, £3 or £3.50 depending which size you choose), Power Juices (£3, £3.50 or £4) or Power Detox (£2.80, £3.30 or £3.80). Try a Super Juice (apple, pineapple, cucumber, lime and avocado) to eliminate toxins or customise your own juice by picking your ingredients and maybe add one or two super food shots, like spirulina.
If you need more than a kiwi to kick you up the backside, then opt for one of their coffees. Americanos, Cappuccinos, Espressos and everything else that caffeine and an o can produce are available from £1.20 to £1.90. But, bear in mind, five-a-day isn't that hard to achieve here. All you need is yoghurt, a blender and willpower.
The Last WordSqueeze Juice Cafe should be your first stop in the morning. Ditch that boring coffee for a power juice and you'll soon notice the difference.
