at long last made a visit to highly recommended coffee house. great surroundings, good coffee (but why in a glass?) but food? Falafel wrap contained hard and I mean rock hard falafels! I pointed this out to the waiter who said that's not very good but still brought a bill with no discount. I wont go back and that's a shame
I travel all over the country and have yet to find coffee tasting as good as it does in Jika Jika. Thank you Jika, perhaps more people will come to appreciate what a really good coffee should taste like, when they've tried yours. The food is a very good standard too. Keep up the good quality.
I'm bemused by some of the recent reviews on this site. Jika-Jika offer the best coffee in Bath without a doubt and the service I have recently had there was great - warm, friendly, non-imposing and as quick as needed for a relaxing mid-morning coffee and also a nice relaxing Sunday breakfast.
Stand out aspect - the coffee!
Until Jika Jika arrived in Bath there was literally nowhere to get a good coffee- cappucino or flat white. Bath is full of terrible places to eat/drink coffee because of a penny pinching approach to the inevitably short term tourist trade.
Jika is always reliable for high-quality coffee and also serves the best affordable lunches in the city (flatbread 'pizzas' start at £4; incredible haddock chowder is about £6. Even the cakes are well made and taste like homemade in many cases (also v diff to find).
There are two other excellent places for coffee in bath: Colonna and Small (near Trim St/ egg theatre) Ben's Cafe (walcot St).
On Valentine's night I attended a speed dating event at Jika Jika. I have attended a couple of these events and this was by far the best one I have been too. There was a relaxed atmosphere, the lady organising it was highly efficient, and made everyone feel welcome and the staff were extremely professional. I would highly recommend attending any event held by this team. The buffet was delicious and I shall now be trying out what Jika Jika has to offer during the day. Thank you for a great night.
On valentine's night I attended a speed dating event at Jika Jika. I have been to a couple before and this was by far and away the best one I have attended. The organisation was very efficient, the girl running it was friendly and personable and the staff extremely professional. I would highly recommend attending any event put on by this team. After enjoying the buffet I will definitely be back during the day to see what else the chefs can do! Thank you for a highly enjoyable night.
Had breakfast at Jika Jika today, the staff were superb, warm & friendly & efficient even though it was very busy. As a fussy coffee drinker i say that this is one of the best coffee's ive had. Breakfast was lovely, not cheap but worth it as it was spot on... Something not often found and we eat out alot!
We had our little girl with us of monkey tendencies being just 1, the staff were really cool about the mess she made and they have plenty of highchairs.
All in all a great place to go with a really nice atmosphere
Jika Jika has been open for about a year and a half, and it's become the busiest coffee shop in Bath from what I can see - not empty as some of the reviews on here suggest it should be!
They do seem to work hard on their coffee and it shows in the nice presentation; it's a cut above anything on the high street and the prices are no less reasonable. Sure it takes longer to make than a bowl of dishwater from Starbucks but anyone who knows anything about coffee will understand.
The fact they have a relaxed table service helps with the wait too.
The decor is unique and although it could use a bit of a spruce after 18 months of constant use, I like it. Haven't tried the food but it looks OK
and my friend said the breakfast burrito is to die for!?
I can't believe the good ratings on here.. I have visited the place many times and every time it's been dreadful.
Well what can I say? If you want to be treated like a moron, then visit here! I have to agree with some other reviewers here. I think this place thinks it's a lot more than it is & has some horrible & arrogant staff. Not to mentioned way over priced food. The only think going for it is that it's quite a nice venue. But to be honest with you it's a complete waste of your time. There are some much much better cafe's in Bath.
I have to agree with some of the other reviews as it's a hit and miss affair in terms of service / food / coffee whenever I have visited. (I have visited JJ at least 4 times so it's not a one off). If you are visiting Bath, give Cafe Rouge a try on Milsom street. It's bigger the prices are lower and the standard of fare (french slant) is better. They welcome well behaved kids too which is great.
Obviously just there to gain on the tourism like most other places in Bath. The coffee was okay and the food was fine but the service was terrible. I could hear the staff pissing around and joking which rubbed salt in the wound. I wouldn't recommend going there to anyone.
Really enjoyed it here. Had to escape the rain for a while with the children. It was very relaxed and the food was ideal - cheap but excellent. The coffee was great too ! Will be sending my friends over.
Jika Jika has been my weekend saving grace! It is fantastic to find a place i can take my children for their delicious pancakes. ( A big hit with the kids) It offers everything from games off the shelf, to a variety of reading material to occupy and entertain, leaving me time to relax and catch up with friends. Icing on the cake is the superb coffee that is served there, Thank You Jika!
I hate writing reviews. No, that's not true, i never write reviews - ever ! Just lost the first one I wrote and I'm sticking with it. At least never wrote one before today ....... but ...... you really need to hear this !
I'm sat in Jika Jika right now, burning their Wifi (its free), drinking a superb coffee made by a trained barista - if there's a better coffee in Bath I'm yet to find it - and soaking up the chilled atmosphere after a hectic week. Yes, this place is simply brilliant. The prefect place for a Sunday relax with the kids and papers, a retreat from the shops for lunch or just to sample the great food and atmosphere.
I came to Bath eight months ago, this place is a real find, try it out for yourself !
Awful service, coffee served cold, never any staff who have any idea what is going on.
A total disgrace, the owner is a bullish moron who parades around like he owns England.
Totally worthless visit, came to Bath for the weekend and completely ruined the day.
I have found the service here to be very poor - slow and somewhat arrogant. Yes, nice surroundings, but a complaint about coffee being served in a glass that was too hot to hold was met with a rather dismissive attitude which attempted to put me in the wrong for a simple request that coffee be decanted into a mug. I and friends of mine have often been kept waiting a very long time for our drinks to arrive, sometimes an order has been lost altogether. Oh and the food is rather overpriced, with very small portions.
