Can honestly say that this establishment excel in rudeness, lack of service, bad attitude and served me the worst breakfast I have ever been offered. You order at the counter, pay up front, walk upstairs and wait for your order. You're told to get your own cutlery from a box on a side table... First four pieces were very dirty with lumps of food stuck to them. Vegetarian breakfasts arrived, both were cold and mine had a thick black hair sitting on top of a grilled tomato. Walked back downstairs, with dirty cutlery and told them about the hair. No apology whatsoever, just a disgruntled roll of the eyes and a curt " get the lady's breakfast" to the waiter. 5 mins later same cold breakfast returned... It was truly the most unappetising meal I have ever had. Both of us, ( starving by this stage) tried to eat some of it but cold congealed beans, lukewarm grilled tomatoes, cold fried egg... Neither of us could eat this. Went back downstairs and said " I'm sorry but those breakfasts were cold and we couldn't eat them". Rude staff, no apology, and grumpy man cooking some other poor persons meal, yelled " give her money back!".. No apology, no manners, no good!
Terrible service, never a smile or a thankyou, they just want your money! The first review of this place must be one of the owners as there prices are from from reasonable, actually borderline rip-off! Be warned do not go here!
Fantastic food - all home-cooked, and very reasonable prices too. Great views over the park, and slap in the middle of town too. Highly recommended.
I have been visiting Scoffs for about 2 years, at first it seems charming and the food nice. However my last 3 or 4 visits I have received terrible service from the counter staff, they have been both rude and patronising, when my friends and I have asked to change things from their breakfast menu e.g. no black pudding but mushrooms instead (understanding the unwritten meat veg swap). Occasionally when the change has been granted it has never materialised in delivery. I would suggest given there are plenty on nicer places to eat in Bath (such as the Jazz cafe) , if you wish for a friendly dining experience to avoid Scoffs. As now, I have truly gone offs' Scoffs.
