Lambrettas, unsurprisingly, is themed around the vintage Italian scooter. It's nice but it's not as impressive as it could be, given the fact that it has a strong theme to work with.

The Venue
If you know what a Lambretta is and you have even just a vague idea of its history, you are probably imagining this bar to have a distinct personality and strong design. Unfortunately, the decor is not as impressive as you would imagine. There are vaguely retro benches and armchairs, in burgundy and light grey, and in a corner, tall tables with stools and a high bench. On the walls, you will see many framed Lambretta posters. The room is mostly lined with wood and, while looking nice enough to be cosy in the winter time, it just lacks something to be considered full of personality. There's a terrace which is very popular during the summer.

The People
If you think you'll find a tribe of mods you'll be disappointed. You're more likely to encounter a few emo kids. Young people are the predominate crowd, especially at night. Lambrettas has a laidback feel, and everyone dresses casually and the music can get pretty loud. It's a good place to socialise with peers and it's the sort of place that's popular for a university social.

The Food
Food is only served at breakfast and lunch as it's too busy during the evening for the bar to cope with orders. A big breakfast is £6, with both regular and vegetarian options available. You can get a starter or a small meal for £4 and dishes include beans and chopped sausage on toast or chikcen goujons with chilli dipping sauce.

Main meals are all £6 and most are traditional pub grub like scampi, fish and chips, burgers or ham, eggs and chips. The vegetable burger is a particularly good deal as you get two quarter pound veggie burgers with sweet chilli sauce, chips and salad for £6. Regular sandwiches are also available for £5.

The Drink
The selection of beer is quite good and includes bottled Cobra, Desperados, Sol and draughts of Peroni, Doombar, Bellringer, San Miguel. This is where the brownie points stop, though, and there's nothing else worth of noting. There are a few bottles of wine you can pick from (£12 to £13 and above for a bottle) and they have all the regular spirits and liqueurs. Prices are rather average pulling towards slightly expensive.

The Last Word
You just wish they had taken their theme more seriously and made Lambrettas a true mod den. As it is, Lambrettas is okay but not special.
